Crimean war Essays - Military History By Country, Caucasian War

During the 1800s Russia appeared to be the predominant power contrasted with its neighbors. An unrivaled nation with better economy, armed force and assets. That was the situation until Russia's neighbors chose to make a move in 1853, and a progression of fights known as the Crimean war separated; at long last devastating Russia and setting new predominance in Europe by 1856. In spite of the fact that Russia appeared to have armed force prevalence due over their sheer numbers, they were refuted by a coalition of the British, French, and the Ottoman Empire (Turkey). Russia was crushed in one of the fights simply by the British because of unrivaled system. Thusly, Russia's urgent endeavors to acquire power at long last lead them to their destruction. The Crimean war was basically a challenge between the significant European forces for impact over sacred regions over the declining Ottoman Empire. As Candan Badem expressed in his book The Ottoman Crimean War (1853-1856), ?It wasn't simpl y Russia, or Britain, or the Ottoman Empire: it was a blend of the issues between every one of these powers [...] Needless to state, these strains depended on extremely material interests and not on close to home issues.? Apparently, the Crimean war could have assumed a fundamental job in the Russian Revolution of 1917 because of its outcomes. Given the significance of this war, an inquiry to answer is, how did the Crimean war influence Russia? In the wake of perusing and completely examining numerous articles and books, plainly after the war, Russia moved from being the most remarkable Empire, to an inconsequential embarrassed nation for a while; as the successful side took the sacred domains they longed for and furthermore prohibit them from utilizing the dark ocean. All things being equal, Russia later on financially recovered and was again a world superpower. To make certain to comprehend the position Russia was in, it's critical to know the Russia before the Crimean War and what occurred before it. As ahead of schedule as 1850, eyewitnesses had been anticipating the episode of a Russo-Turkish War. Russia before the Crimean war of 1853 was a prevalent, more grounded Russia in examination of its neighboring nations. Russia wanted to grow that force left and right: in Europe and Asia. In his book Imperial Russia 1801-1901, Tim Chapman altogether clarifies Russia's governmental issues and economy previously, during, and after the Crimean war. During the 1800s, Russia was an absolutism administered by a sovereign who took the name of a ?Tsar?, his name was Nicholas I. ?His fundamental errands were to protect Russia from outside assault and to keep up request inside the wildernesses [?] be that as it may, he was not so much allowed to do as he picked.? (197) Nicholas I intended to expand Russia's capacity while keeping harmony around and insid e Russia. Clearly a thought that the Ottoman Empire (or different nations) wouldn't consent to. Additionally critical to make reference to, the Russian Tsars had followed a genuinely predictable approach of drawing progressively political force away from the respectability and into their own hands. The living in Russia was nothing strange. Most towns in Russia comprised of wooden homes, a bathhouse , a congregation and different sheds. Moreover, the extraordinary size of Russia was its principle shortcoming strategically, at that point on the other hand this was its incredible quality monetarily. As Chapman expressed, ?...the tremendous regions of region were hard to control yet they were possessed by enormous quantities of individuals. With a populace near forty million out of 1800, Russia was by a long shot the biggest of the European states.? (202) All the land was utilized for cultivating and products, however it is hard to control an enormous nation like Russia. The Crimean war was the consequence of an opposition between France, Russia and Britain for impact in the Middle East, particularly with the Ottoman Empire. Despite the fact that that was the prompt reason, it was a ticking bomb that had been developed throughout the years prepared to detonate. In 1853 Russia claimed domains that had recently been constrained by the Ottoman Empire. England and France didn't need Russia to continue growing and attempted to haggle with them so as to stop them. The Ottomans were reluctant to get into an understanding and, having full back-up from the British, announced war

Energy Psychology for Treating Mental Illness

Energy Psychology for Treating Mental Illness Psychotherapy Print Energy Psychology for Treating Mental Illness By Leonard Holmes Updated on September 29, 2019 Westend61/Getty Images More in Psychotherapy Online Therapy Energy psychology is a relatively new method of therapy that combines Eastern approaches to the mind and body with Western psychology and psychotherapy ideas.  Practitioners of energy psychotherapy claim that tapping acupuncture points while thinking about an anxiety-producing event can cure anxiety and phobias. Though this therapy is still controversial, continuing research is showing it to be a promising treatment. History Energy psychology techniques were first popularized in the early 1980s by Roger Callahan, Ph.D. under the name of thought field therapy. David Feinstein, Ph.D., a clinical psychologist, has developed an energy psychology program that provides training, even for people to use at home. Feinstein has done a good job of presenting the basics of the technique in a balanced manner. There are several branches of energy psychology, including the aforementioned thought field therapy, emotional freedom techniques, and comprehensive energy psychology. How Energy Psychology Works Treatment begins similarly to any other form of psychotherapy with the therapist and patient developing trust and rapport and zeroing in on problems. The therapist starts by identifying a particular trigger, which is a thought, image or memory that sparks upsetting or anxiety-producing feelings, and then asks the patient to rate how distressing that trigger is on a scale of 0 to 10, with 10 being the highest distress. The next step is to have the patient tap on certain acupuncture points, called acupoints while repeating a statement about the trigger that has been agreed upon by both the patient and therapist. The way it works is that the brain is expecting a highly unpleasant emotional reaction to occur in response to the trigger, but it doesnt because the tapping of the acupoints has temporarily deactivated the limbic response, says Feinstein in one of his many articles on the topic. In this way, with many repetitions, patients learn to in effect neutralize the emotions that painfu l or upsetting thoughts or memories evoke.   After the tapping is complete, the therapist has the patient rate the trigger again, perhaps describing physical symptoms as well. The tapping is repeated until the rate goes down to a zero, or very close to it. This takes very little time, though follow-up sessions may be needed. The Verdict Its too early to know for certain whether or not energy psychotherapy will really prove to be an effective technique. However, similar approaches such as  eye  movement desensitization and reprocessing  (EMDR) sound just as strange on the surface, yet some good research has backed up the effectiveness of EMDR. As of 2014, over 60 studies had been published on the efficacy of energy psychology, with only one showing it to be ineffective. It is being used to treat a variety of issues such as depression, anxiety, trauma, pain,  and stress. The research certainly looks extremely promising, showing energy psychology to be effective with only a few treatment sessions for a whole host of psychological disorders.   Energy psychology advocates suggest that tapping acupuncture points  stimulates mechanoreceptors, nerve endings that are sensitive to touch. This stimulation is theorized to somehow normalize the bodys energy channels and fields. It could be that the techniques work, but that they work for reasons that have nothing to do with the human energy field.  Different  kinds of energy work are becoming more popular among holistic health practitioners, and it is true that we do not yet understand much about the energy fields that surround the human body.
